Dr. Jerry V. Teplitz' background is as unique as the techniques and approaches he teaches.  He is a graduate of Hunter College and Northwestern University School of Law.  He practiced as an attorney for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. 


At that point, Dr. Teplitz’ career took a dramatic change of direction.  He studied and received Doctorate Degree in Holistic Health Sciences.


He has spoken at over 1800 meetings and to over a million people. He conducts seminars in the areas of leadership, team development, stress management and employee productivity.

Jason Vanzin

Starting at a young age, Jason was always looking for "the better way" to get a goal accomplished. Dave Jakielo
Dave Jakielo's experience includes 12 years in hospital patient finance and four decades of managing physician practices and Medical Billing Companies.  Dave has been speaking, consulting, and teaching business methods throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

He is co-author of four books and he is a regular columnist in the trade journals RCM Advisor and BC Advantage. Dave is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters in Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Since 1995 he has been President of his own Seminar and Consulting Company.

Robert Burleigh
As founder in 1988 and President of Brandywine Healthcare Services, Bob has over forty-nine years of healthcare financial management experience.  His career has included eight years of hands-on and executive level hospital patient accounting for a 500 bed community hospital and an international chain of for-profit hospitals, eight years with Shared Medical Systems (SMS) [now Cerner] in both the Hospital and Physicians Services Division related to systems sales and delivery, project management, billing service management and consulting.

Bob is an Advanced member of HFMA and was an Advisory Board member of their PFS Forum; HBMA – serving as consultant to and then member of the Board of Directors, and was HBMA’s President in 2003 – 2004.  He Chaired the Ethics and Compliance Committee, founded and chaired the Government Relations Committee, served on the Survey and Membership Committees and established HBMA’s Certification during his presidency.  He has been a Certified Healthcare Billing and Management Executive (CHBME) since it was established and is an active member of HBMA, HFMA and AHIMA.  Bob is a graduate of Penn State University (B.S. Business Management) and serves as a guest instructor and full-time Mentor for Penn State’s Graduate Program in Health Planning and Administration.

Holly Louie, RN, BSN
Holly is a consultant for MSN Healthcare Solutions, a multi-specialty revenue cycle company, located in Columbus, Georgia.  She is an active member of the Healthcare Business Management (HBMA) Government Relations Committee and the Healthcare Compliance Association. She previously held HBMA positions as the chair of the ICD-10 Committee, chair of the Compliance Committee, co-developer of the HBMA Compliance Course, and was on the Board of Directors for many years.  She is a past President for HBMA. Holly is also a national healthcare consultant and testifying expert on matters related to fraud and abuse, risk assessments, billing processes, physician documentation, coding, billing and regulatory compliance.  She has previously held compliance officer positions in local, regional and international billing companies.  Holly provides educational programs to a wide variety of healthcare entities, Boise State University, the Medical Billing Executive Conference (MBEC) and the revenue cycle management industry.

Holly served as the at large member for the American College of Medical Coding Specialists (ACMCS) until it joined AHIMA in 2012. She has been on the Talk Ten Tuesday Advisory Board for many years and regularly presents on the live show.  She frequently publishes articles on coding, billing and compliance. 

Holly graduated cum laude from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Teri Bedard BA, RT (R)(T), CPC
Teri is the Executive Director, Client & Corporate Resources for Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies. She is a frequent speaker and author for nationally recognized professional organizations and publications. Teri’s areas of expertise include assisting clients in the areas of billing and reimbursement for physicians, hospitals outpatient and vendor technology, monitoring government regulatory information, and seeking new business opportunities.


Teri often speaks at state regional and national conferences on topics including Radiation Oncology coding, CMS regulatory updates, documentation requirements, and other healthcare compliance issues. Recent speaking engagements include the America Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), Society for Radiation Oncology Administrators (SROA), American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD), American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), and Elekta, Inc. Additionally, Teri provides key articles for ACROinsights, Oncology Issues UACC, and serves as a member of the Editorial Board for SROA.


Teri works with cancer centers, hospitals, and physician practices across the US, as well as commercial payers, healthcare vendors, and benefit management companies to provide reimbursement information, assessments, education, and operational improvements. Teri also serves as a specialty auditor and expert witness in the field radiation oncology for the Office of Inspector General (OIG).


Teri has worked in healthcare, predominantly radiation oncology, for over 20 years. Prior to her current position, Teri held positions as x-ray technician, radiation therapist, and clinical instructor for Fairview University Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Her responsibilities included direct patient care, student instruction, and management. Teri holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She is also nationally certified as a Radiologic Technologist and Radiation Therapist receiving training at Mayo School of Health-Related Sciences at Rochester MN, and Fairview University-Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Teri is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Karna W. Morrow is the Director, Client Services for Practice EHR. She has spent nearly three decades in the industry providing consulting and training for a variety of healthcare organizations. Matt Seefeld
Matt Seefeld brings 20+ years of management consulting experience in the healthcare industry. He has extensive expertise in the assessment, design and implementation of process improvement programs and technology development across the entire revenue cycle. Matt began his career with Stockamp & Associates, Inc. and worked for both PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Deloitte Consulting LLP in their healthcare and life sciences practice lines. In 2007, he developed a business intelligence solution and founded Interpoint Partners, LLC, where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. In 2011, he sold his business to Streamline Health Solutions where he then served as Chief Strategist of Revenue Cycle followed by Senior Vice President of Solutions Strategy until 2014.

At Alpha II, Timothy Mills provides solutions for coding, compliance, claims editing, & revenue analysis for healthcare professionals, clearinghouses, & government entities.  Tim has extensive experience in clinical, financial & administrative outsourced technology services as well as turn-key solutions to the provider, hospital, health system, & health insurance marketplaces.  Tim has been a Healthcare & IT executive for more than 30 years.

Neil Johnson
Neil Johnson has more than 20 years of investment banking and private equity experience including completion of over $1 billion of corporate finance transactions involving merger and acquisitions, equity and corporate debt financings as well as distressed asset acquisitions and divestitures. As Managing Partner of Lawrence, Evans & Co., LLC, Mr. Johnson’s responsibilities primarily include deal sourcing and evaluation, transaction structuring, securing financing including debt and equity, and fundraising. Many of the completed transactions have involved acute care hospitals, senior housing, home health, behavioral health, revenue cycle management, health IT, big data, analytics or other services related companies.

Prior to forming Lawrence, Evans & Co., LLC, Mr. Johnson worked at one of the largest asset based healthcare lenders in the country and spent time with a national healthcare investment bank as an underwriter. Prior experiences include time as a healthcare bond trader managing over $100 million in assets at a regional based investment advisor. Neil spent time in Germany with an internet start-up and was involved with a successful sale of an internet consumer marketing company.

Neil is a board member and executive of several other companies. He is a member of the Association of Corporate Growth, Healthcare Business Management Association, Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the First Connect Bio Medical Steering Committee as well as an education contributor to the Harvard Business School. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Management from Albion College. Mr. Johnson received his Masters of Business Administration degree from Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business. He is also a 1994 NCAA National Football Champion, Albion College Hall of Fame Individual and 4 Team Member and NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship Recipient.

Matt Reiter
Matt Reiter is a Principal and the Managing Partner at Capitol Associates, Inc., a bipartisan government relations and policy analysis firm that has represented HBMA’s interests in Washington for over 20 years. In this capacity, he serves as HBMA’s Director of Government Affairs. Matt has worked at Capitol Associates since 2014 and recently became a co-owner of the company after Bill Finerfrock’s retirement.

Matt represents HBMA on legislative and regulatory health policy issues including provider reimbursement, value-based payment systems, administrative simplification, the No Surprises Act, and efforts to reform the U.S. healthcare system. Matt sees his role as both a policy analyst and an advocate. He helps HBMA understand relevant policy issues so that they can make informed decisions about educating members and, when necessary, represents HBMA in advocacy activities on those issues before Congress and federal agencies.

General Session: Opportunities to Reduce Administrative Burden and Cost: New CAQH CORE Operating Rules

Robert Bowman
Bob Bowman is the Principal, Interoperability and Standards at CAQH CORE, a non-profit alliance of healthcare industry leaders whose mission is the creation and adoption of healthcare operating rules that support standards, accelerate interoperability, and align administrative and clinical activities among providers, payers and consumers. Bob oversees the CORE Rule development process; directs the CORE Certification program, which was designed to demonstrate adoption of the CORE rules; serves as a CORE liaison to the standard development organizations (SDOs); is a member of the Board of Directors of WEDI – Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange; and supports CORE’s industry education and outreach.  Prior to joining CAQH CORE, Bob served as the EDI manager for Humana, Inc.  He also worked as an implementation manager – implementing EDI, Web, and HIPAA projects for state, federal, and commercial clients across the country.

Emily TenEyck is a Senior Manager for the CAQH Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE). Emily manages CAQH CORE Rule Development initiatives including the Attachments Operating Rules, and oversees the recently launched Attachments Pilot Initiative. Additionally, Emily aids with CAQH CORE’s industry education, and supports the development of CAQH CORE's policy positions. Prior to joining CAQH CORE, Emily served as Senior Analyst of Quality, Safety and Performance Improvement for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, supporting quality, compliance, patient safety and patient experience initiatives.

Michael Johnson
Michael Johnson has been with PracticeMax since 2013.  He has been CEO of PracticeMax since May of 2021.  Prior to becoming CEO at PracticeMax, Michael spent time as the Senior Vice President of Operations and the Vice President of Global Strategy. Michael led the strategy to develop a captive offshore presence in the Philippines as well as managed the relationship with offshore vendors in India and the Philippines.

Prior to joining PracticeMax, Michael specialized in transforming organizations into successful and sustainable firms through strategic vision, management excellence. He did this as CEO of Satori Inc, a hospitality industry company, as the Executive Director of the Utah Hotel & Lodging Association and as General Manager of Davis 17 a community television station.

Michael Johnson is a graduate of the Kelley School of Business where he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Thunderbird School of Management where he completed a Master of Global Management (MGM).  He earned a Bachelors in Science in Political Science from the University of Utah and has a background in government relations and political campaign management.
