“Taking place on the famed and newly expanded River Walk, our Spring Conference has been specifically designed to confront the challenges facing today’s third-party billers and health care providers,” said HBMA President Jackie Willett, CHBME. “From our dynamic keynote speaker and the ever-popular Washington Update through our Exhibitor Showcase and this year’s off-site event at the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum, attendees will enjoy a diverse selection of educational sessions, networking opportunities and fun.”

The 1:30 p.m. Opening Keynote address on Sunday, April 3, features keynote speaker Catherine Hanson, JD, American Medical Association (AMA). Her presentation, entitled “Eliminating Cost & Angst: AMA’s National Health Insurer Report Card & Heal the Claims Process Campaign,” will focus on claims processing and related activity of the major health insurers. She will also discuss and identify solutions that can lead to the reduction of administrative costs and distrust among all health care industry stakeholders.

The Closing Keynote address on Tuesday, April 5, “Surviving & Thriving in a Changing Healthcare Environment” features HBMA Past President and Charter Member David Jakielo, CHBME. His focus will be to identify opportunities and develop strategies to ensure medical billers will remain viable for years to come. Participants will walk away from this final session with strategies to avoid pitfalls in the “New Medical Billing” arena.

Participants in the Spring Conference may earn up to 14 credits toward the designation of CHBME (Certified Healthcare Billing and Management Executive). Pre-Conference and Post-Conference courses each offer an additional 4.0 credits.
