Legislative Update on "Surprise" Medical Bills Presented by Matt Reiter & Bill Finerfrock
Webinar Live Date: August 29th, 2019
This program is valid for 1 CHBME credit
Description:
There are few things that Congress agrees on in in today’s partisan environment our Nation’s Capital. Protecting patients from “surprise” out-of-network medical bills happens to be one of those few issues.
Over the last few months, legislators in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate have introduced close to a dozen legislative proposals to protect patients from "surprise" medical bills and establish a solution for reimbursing the out-of-network provider in these scenarios. If passed by Congress into law, many of these proposals would have a major impact on the ability of physician practices to negotiate fair network participation terms with health plans.
This webinar will:
- Discuss the recent history of efforts to regulate "surprise" bills at the federal level.
- Provide an overview of the prevailing proposals on Capitol Hill.
- Discuss how the policies Congress is considering will impact the healthcare system.
- Summarize HBMA’s efforts to advocate on this issue on behalf of HBMA Members and our provider clients.
