Description:
HBMA is pleased to announce a new three-part webinar series on the federal No Surprises Act (NSA). The first webinar in the series will cover the NSA’s Good Faith Estimate requirement. This series will also feature a webinar on the NSA’s out-of-network protections and a webinar on the arbitration process for both the out-of-network protections and good faith estimate.
The NSA requires all providers and facilities to furnish patients who are either uninsured or self-pay (insured patients who do not want to submit the claim to their insurance) with a good faith estimate (GFE) either upon request or upon scheduling care. This year, the GFE only needs to include information about the item or service for which the patient is requesting or scheduling care. However, next year, the GFE will expand to include connected care, even if that care is furnished by a different provider.
This webinar will provide an overview of the GFE requirement as well as a summary of HBMA’s advocacy on the operational issues with these regulations. The presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion with members of the HBMA Government Relations Committee about how HBMA members can help their clients comply with the GFE requirement and prepare for its future expansion.
